William E. "Bill" Stelzer, age 93, passed peacefully on November 23, 2020. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the U.S. Army. Bill retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center after 30 years. He was a charter member of VFW Post #4719, a member of Sunrise Lodge #783, Horeb Chapter #3, Zabud Council #9, Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine (Reception Unit), and was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church. Bill had a tremendous love of nature, including tending to his flower gardens, watching and feeding the birds, deer, turkey, and squirrels that frequented his backyard. His passions included golfing, reading history, and spending time with his family and friends. Bill is preceded in passing by his parents, Edwin and Marie Stelzer; brothers Jerry (Mary) and Don (Millie). Left to cherish Bill's memory are his beloved wife of 73 years, Ruth Ann "Ruthie"; sons Richard (Dianne) and Mark (Amy); grandsons Jacob (Rory) and Nicholas (Amanda); great granddaughter Ricky Lynn; brother James (Elizabeth) Stelzer; brother-in-law Harold Fisher; and sister-in-law Rosemary (Richard) Hensley, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Visitation will take place from 2pm-5pm on Wednesday, December 2nd at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH, 43230. His funeral service will take place the following morning at 11am. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at Bill's funeral service will be limited to family only. For those wishing to be present in spirit, a live webcast will be available on Bill's Schoedinger.com tribute page, and will be accessible shortly before the service begins. For those who wish to attend the graveside service, interment will follow the funeral at Jefferson Township Cemetery, 870 Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road, Blacklick, Ohio, 43004.
