Thuyen Cao

January 4, 1941 - October 18, 2020

Vincente Thuyen Son Cao, passed away at home surrounded by family on October 18, 2020. He was 79 years old. Thuyen was born in Vietnam on January 4,1941 to the late Kim and Theu (Vu) Cao. In addition to his parents, Thuyen was preceded in death by Tuoi Cao (sister) and Tien Cao (brother). When North Vietnam overran South Vietnam in 1975, Thuyen took his family and fled to the United States by boat, and settled in Columbus, Ohio. Thuyen was an active member of the Vietnamese Catholic Community in Columbus, Ohio. He devoted his entire life to serving the Lord, the poor and his family. Thuyen will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nu; and seven children, Mary (Richard) Cofer, Allison (James) Soppe, Tuan (Cindy) Cao, Mai Cao, Tuyen (Ellen) Cao, Lien (Matthew) Kosto and Dominico (Michelle) Cao; fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Cofer, Melissa (Wesley) Auker, Ashley (Drew) Cofer, Brittany (Andrew) Lehman, Joshua (Kara) Soppe, Jacob (Michaela) Soppe, Branden, Nathen, Jorden, Jenna, Sean and Vincent Cao, Andrew, Evan and Cameron Kosto ; one great-granddaughter Ella Auker; brothers Chung Cao, Lam Cao; sisters Sen Barr and Tuyet Cao; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High St, Worthington, OH 43085 from 9AM until 11AM on Thursday, October 22, 2020. A Catholic funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday October 22, 2020, at Saint Augustine and Gabriel Parish, 1550 E Hudson St, Columbus, OH 43211 immediately followed by the Rite of Committal at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 High St., Lewis Center, OH 43035.
