July 6, 1946 - March 31, 2021
Peggy Ruth Bevins, age 74, passed away March 31, 2021 at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, Ohio from heart failure due to complications of bacterial pneumonia. She was born July 6, 1946 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was the fifth child of eight born to Everett and Fonnie Avonell (Charles) Bevins. Peggy was a woman of many talents, interests, and passions. She was loved and known for her sassiness, spunk and strength. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making things for her family, such as Christmas stockings, bears, and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls to name just a few. She enjoy gardening with her favorite flowers being tulips, geranium, and sweet potato vine. She had a stylish flare and an eye for detail that showed in her every endeavor from her home decor to her carefully accessorized attire. She loved cooking and baking with family and friends. She and a most beloved friend, Sue, created their own delicious recipe for beer cheese that has no rival. More than anything, Peggy cherished her family. She was a loving and loyal mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her family will never forget how she made every holiday and birthday special with large dinners and elaborate decorations. She was always there to fiercely cheer her son and defend him (when necessary) during his many football games and wrestling matches in high school. She felt immense pride when as a young man he served in the United States Army and later when he chose to continue a life of service becoming a member of the Lexington Fire Department. She shared a wondering and playful spirit with her daughter who will cherish the memories of their many escapades and road trips together. They would often sing in the car along to her favorite musicians and bands (Queen, Prince, The Steve Miller Band, and Bon Jovi) on their many adventures. One of their more recent trips fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing Niagara Falls. The bond she shared with her beloved grandson will live on in the memories of his Nana dancing to La Bamba, drinking milk out of "fancy glasses", playing games, cooking, baking, trips to Starbucks, decorating the Christmas tree, and watching television and movies. Basically, whatever he wanted to do, Nana was down for it. She also made sure to pass on her love of sewing to him as well. She also loved her furry grandchildren. Her beloved grand-dog, Mason, passed late last year and she leaves behind her furry grand-kitties, Elvis and Presley, whom she loved to spoil with treats. She is likely enjoying seeing Mason and reuniting with a long passed beloved furbaby kitty, Lexi. Peggy is survived by her son, John D. Barnott, of Lexington Kentucky, her daughter, LeighAnn Barnott, of Columbus, Ohio, and grandson, Jake Ryan Barnott, and his mother both of Lexington, Kentucky. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Sue Bevins, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lois Bevins Osborne of Pikeville, Kentucky. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces who will miss her very deeply. She loved and was loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Fonnie Bevins, her sisters: Anna Mae Bevins, Erma Gail Bevins Blackburn Issacs, Judy Carol Bevins, and Sharon Kay Bevins Copley, and one brother, Paul Everett Bevins. In lieu of a traditional service and burial, the family will be holding a "Celebration of Life," a four city Farewell Tour, the specific dates and times will be announced later and will be held in Columbus, Ohio, Lexington, Kentucky, Pikeville, Kentucky, and ending in Siesta Key, Florida. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the life of this most beloved woman. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME.
