December 16, 1948 - March 10, 2021
Patricia A. Germano, 72, recently of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio to James and Ann (nee Vass) Butler. She graduated from Ursuline High School, and went on to Marietta College where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in biology. She married her loving husband, Anthony, in 1971. They were in their 50th year of marriage at the time of her passing. They were deeply committed to their vows; for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. Patricia's devotion to God and the Catholic Church brought great meaning to her life. She was His faithful follower who lived Jesus' teachings of faith, hope and love. These virtues permeated every aspect of her life. Pat loved and respected everyone whether you were family, friends of long or a new connection she just made. You were all special and important to her. Whether you knew her as Trisha, Mom, Aunt Pat, Gigi, Pat or Patty -you knew that she cherished you. She had such a genuine, graceful and eloquent way of sharing her thoughts and experiences. She loved to send a card, make a phone call or respond on Facebook to let you know she cared about what was going on in your life. Pat loved Niagara Falls. A trip to this natural wonder was one of her happy places. You may have gone with her - she was up for an adventure to this wondrous spot any time of year! She also enjoyed exploring the National Parks and visited many of the natural wonders of the American Southwest in Arizona. Among her favorites were the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Canyon de Chelly. The stories that were told about these trips always brought a laugh or a smile to her face, especially if it involved being stranded as the temperature plummeted or her loved ones crossing barriers to explore way too close to the edge! When you attend mass and break bread with friends, think of her. When you take a walk in the park and have a picnic, think of her. When you visit the library and read a book, think of her. When you play a game of solitaire, think of her. When you spot a wavy arm man, think of her. When you are at the lake and find beach glass, think of her. When you buy cookies and support the Girl Scouts, think of her. When you watch the Kentucky Derby or National Dog Show, think of her. When you celebrate Mardi Gras or Groundhog's Day, think of her. When you pick apples or berries at a local farm, think of her. Slow down and take the time to explore and enjoy the world around you... whether it's far away or right outside your door. In a world where you can be anything, be kind. Cherish your friends and family. Reach out and love life! Pat is survived by her husband, Anthony; two daughters, Lauren (Douglas) Braford of Pickerington, OH, and Claire (Dean) Vitullo of Gilbert, AZ and two grandchildren, Nathan Braford and Norah Braford; her brother, Jim Butler and his wife, Sandi Butler, her sister, Peg Mazur, her sister-in-law, JoAnne Rubsam and her husband, Lou Rubsam and three loving nephews and their families. Arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME. A private Mass of Christian burial will be held for immediate family due to COVID-19 concerns, interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Pat's request for a celebration of her life will be enjoyed when it is safer to gather and share good food and each other's company. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Pat's name to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1545 South Green Rd, South Euclid, OH 44121 or Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, OH 43055.
