August 28, 1945 - February 3, 2021
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James "Jim" F. Burcham of Johnstown, Ohio on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the age of 75. He was born on August 28, 1945, in Huntington, West Virginia to Franklin "Gene" and Martha "Louise" (Pinkerman) Burcham. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sue (Britt) Burcham; son, Andy (Sara Mora) Burcham; daughter, Jenny (Bob) Stoltz; son, Ben Burcham; grandchildren, Gracie and Hannah Stoltz, whom he loved dearly, as well as Jimmy, Juli, DeDe and Charlie Burcham, whom he also loved dearly but had not seen in 10 years; brother, Tim (Suzy) Burcham; sister, Carolyn (Philip) Cullum; sister, Becky Swickard; uncle, Dale Burcham; many nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Lily. He was predeceased by his father, Gene Burcham; mother, Louise Burcham; and brother-in-law, Gene Swickard. Jim graduated from New Albany High School in 1963. He then attended college at Franklin University, where he earned his business degree while working at Western Electric. His hard work and dedication continued there for over 35 years in a variety of positions specializing in Cost Accounting/Management. Jim's true passion was his family. He married his childhood sweetheart, Sue, at the age of 20. He then built his family's home at the young age of 27 with his father, Gene. Jim and Sue spent the next 48 years raising their family in their home, creating many life-long memories. Jim enjoyed traveling with this family, some of his favorite places being Glacier National Park in Montana, the Canadian Rockies, the red wood forests in California, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He enjoyed the peacefulness of the mountains and nature. Jim also took great pride with many home projects, often helping family and friends. He also enjoyed current events and politics, spending many hours debating with his son, Andy. What Jim leaves behind are his strong family values where he taught his children to have passion and to live to their fullest potential. He was also a life-long member of the Church of Christ, raising his children to love God. These strong values were passed on to him by his parents, Gene and Louise, and will be his legacy for generations to come. There will be no public services at this time. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_dcm=58700006166709658andsc_cid=kwp73482andsource_code=IIQ181010008andds_rl=1285465andgclid=Cj0KCQiAmfmABhCHARIsACwPRAA6CtRU9imJc46yBJ1_se7oZT8bWTBn10pyzsgAg4xvb8Doy2RhiggaApjnEALw_wcBandgclsrc=aw.ds) and the Licking County Humane Society (https://lchspets.org/donate/) in Jim's memory.
