Donna Kassel

November 24, 1932 - January 31, 2021

Donna Regina Vollrath Kassel, 88, of New Albany passed away on January 31, 2021. She was born on November 24, 1932 in Bucyrus, OH to the late Harry and Gertrude (Charleston) Vollrath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Burton Anton Kassel, her sister Doris, her brother Donald and her daughter Cynthia Drollinger. Donna was a graduate of The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, Donna taught elementary school. Donna was an active member of both the Medina community and the Fayetteville, NC local area. She was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church, the Haymount United Methodist Church and Medina United Methodist Church. Donna was an energetic woman who spent many hours volunteering her time. She will be greatly missed by her children Cheryl Morris and Curtis (Karen) Kassel; grandchildren Brandon, Taylor and Trevor Kassel and Amanda, Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas and Phillip Drollinger; and her seven great grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service for Donna will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in the chapel at the New Albany United Methodist Church, 20 Third Street, New Albany, with Reverend Frank Luchsinger officiating. A zoom link will be available from the family for those unable to attend in person. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the New Albany United Methodist Church and will support the Calling and Caring Ministries, a program which supported Donna over the years.
